Documentary “Palankinha: uma Educação promotora da Cidadania”
The documentary “Palankinha: uma Educação promotora de Cidadania” shows the entire process of architectural rehabilitation and expansion of the School number 5052 in the neighbourhood of Capalanga (Luana, Angola). The project was designed by Paulo Moreira and it was nominated to the Habitar Portugal 2012-2014, in the category “Works Abroad”.
Established March 7th 2015, this school follows the pedagogic model of Citizenship Education of the Ponte Elementary School in Vila das Aves, Portugal, aimed at the promotion of a methodology of cooperative learning. According to this model, the students are in charge of their teaching-learning process and the entire educational community is actively involved in a true participated democracy.
The Community Library, a project developed with/for the neighbouring community, was inaugurated on August 6th 2015. It is considered to be a space for dialogue and cultural actions, based on principles like autonomy, flexibility, liaison and local valorisation, thus promoting the community’s participation.
More than a simple summary, this short film covers the entire process of architectural rehabilitation of the “Palankinha”, from the embryonic stage to the present phase of the project.
