On November 6, the Civact multiplier event took place – Conversations on citizenship and inclusion – in which the final results of the project were presented and debated
CivAct, an ERASMUS + Key Action 2 project that has been taking place over the past two years, has worked to tackle the issues of social exclusion in young people and improve the social involvement of at-risk young people across Europe. The project partners developed and tested new methodologies for these young people in the citizenship processes. Youth technicians from five neighborhoods participated in occupational training to learn new methods of engagement, which they then used to give young people with whom they work new experiences of civic participation and the confidence and tools needed to propose changes in urban regeneration and local development in the areas in which they live.
The project includes a strong collective of partners who have previous experience working with young people at risk of social exclusion and social and educational projects focused on local development: Lawaetz Stiftung (Hamburg, Germany; lead partner), Bond of Union (Palermo, Italy), Mapping for Change (London, UK), Young East (Gothenburg, Sweden) and APDES (Porto, Portugal).
We thank all the participants for their presence and, in particular, the contributions of Catarina Oliveira (Espaço T), Marta Fernandes (Fap no Bairro), Mafalda Sousa (Youth Technique), Dr. Diogo Meireles (Deputy Of The Councilor of the Youth and Sport Platoon of C.M. Porto) and Dr. Tiago Cunha (President of the Municipal Youth Council of Vila Nova de Gaia on behalf of the Municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia).
