World Hepatitis Day (WHD) takes place every year on 28th July, and brings together activists, civil society and professionals from around the world to promote awareness on the global impact of viral hepatitis and to influence a real change.

Worldwide, viral hepatitis are a major cause of death, responsible for 1.34 million deaths per year, a figure that exceeds deaths caused by HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis or malaria. Taken together, hepatitis B and hepatitis C viruses cause two out of three cases of liver cancer, worldwide.

In 2016, all governments around the world made a commitment to eradicate viral hepatitis by 2030. There are 10 years ahead. In spite of a handful of countries are on track to eliminate Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B elimination is globally delayed.

Now is the time to hold governments accountable and make them keep the promise to eliminate viral hepatitis.

It is super easy to get involved – you just have to sign this letter that will be sent to all the Ministers of Health of the world, after the World Hepatitis Day that is celebrated on the 28th of July.
