This research project offers a contribution to the understanding and characterisation of the Opioid Substitution Programs in Portugal. It is based on the need to get to know more intrinsically the decision-making technical processes associated with the integration of individuals who use drugs in opioid replacement programs, while aiming to understand who the actors of this process are and the way they’re involved in the decision-making process, namely regarding the role of the beneficiary. It also considers important to evaluate the access of opioid dependent individuals to the replacement substance that suits their needs the most, in order to establish strategies that allow the optimisation of that same access.
